Staff work to promote achievement. All staff have high expectations and share these with the young people. Succeeding in tasks which appear simple but are essential such as keeping rooms tidy and helping with daily chores lead to feelings of worth and result in praise.
Physical activities are encouraged and include cycling, horse riding, fishing, sailing, climbing and using the ropes course. Strengths and interests are promoted so that success and feelings of well-being encourage young people to become willing to access classroom education.
Opportunities for formal attainment are wide and consist of English, Business Studies, Mathematics, Science, Craft Design and Technology, aspects of Skills for Work, Art and Design, Music, Information and Communications Technology, Media studies, Personal Development, including cognitive skills, PE and HE.
