Our Staff

The strength of the school is its skilled workforce. There is a very large staff group to allow intensive and high level support at all times, including during the night.

Our teachers are GTC registered and specialise in particular subjects whilst also taking full responsibility for literacy, numeracy and health and well-being across learning.

All our care staff have appropriate qualifications and are registered with SSSC; some have high level qualifications (e.g. BA and MSc) and many are continuing to study with full support from the school.

All staff have received recent excellent training on child protection and implement their training very effectively. Risk assessments for each young person are carefully undertaken to ensure they are safe in all situations.

The school also employs an independent advocate to ensure all young people have an opportunity to discuss any issues of concern with someone ‘outwith’ the service.

Care and education staff work closely together since evening and weekend activities are closely linked to learning in the classroom and vice versa. Each young person has a key worker and educational tutor with whom they have a particularly strong relationship. Key workers ensure the closest links with parents and/or placing authorities.
